ALDOT Fitzpatrick Bridge Condition Assessment (2020)
Strinteg was contracted by The Alabama Department of Transportation to perform a condition assessment of the Fitzpatrick Bridge in Tallassee, Alabama. This two-lane, thirteen span bridge includes a seven-span Warren deck truss unit spanning 1,740 feet over the Tallapoosa River adjacent to the Thurlow Reservoir Dam. One of the world’s longest curved bridges, the Fitzpatrick Bridge rises up to 143 feet above ground. Strinteg’s engineers performed a rehabilitation level (hands-on) inspection of the bridge utilizing aerial lift equipment and industrial climbing techniques. The structure has both a horizontal curve and super-elevation through the main truss span unit. A detailed inspection report with maintenance and rehabilitation recommendations was submitted.
