ALDOT O’Neal Bridge Rehabilitation (2008 – 2014)
Our team member experience includes providing engineering services for the rehabilitation level inspection and rehabilitation of the signature O’Neal Bridge in Florence, Alabama. The signature structure is comprised of a cantilevered Warren through truss main span with multiple simply-supported deck truss approach spans. The bridge spans over 2,000 feet over the Tennessee River connecting the cities of Florence and Sheffield.
Our firm houses the engineer-of-record for the 2013 rehabilitation of the structure. Work consisted of strengthening framing and truss members to remove load posting on the structure, installation of a new TL-4 barrier system, re-painting the bridge, installation of a closed drainage system, and new lighting throughout the structure. Significant consideration was given to environmental impacts and re-routing of traffic during construction on this narrow, two-lane bridge.
