Donald Cartwright, PE

Donald has dedicated his 13-year career to the inspection, load rating, rehabilitation, and design of bridges. He has served as project manager, task leader, and lead inspector for numerous high-profile bridge projects of varying sizes and structure types, including long-span cable-stayed, high level steel girder, suspension, segmental box girder, complex truss, rail, and movable (lift, swing, bascule) bridges – often requiring rope access and industrial climbing techniques. Don’s projects have included city, county, and state-owned bridges and ancillary structures throughout the country. In addition to inspection, he has prepared plans for numerous bridge repair and complex rehabilitation projects and served as engineer-of-record for new bridge designs including design-build projects. Over multiple projects, Don has performed detailed analysis involving three-dimensional finite element modeling to determine causes and repair alternatives for complex problems found at bridges, primarily related to fatigue-sensitive details and existing cracks. Don leverages his vast inspection and technical experience to develop innovative and efficient solutions to complex challenges found at bridges – often at a reduced cost to his clients.

Don currently serves as Strinteg’s chief operating officer and leads the firm’s Cleveland, Ohio office. He serves as a technical lead on numerous complex rehabilitation design and load rating projects. His primary focus is developing and managing our operations and processes, increasing backlog, and fostering mentorship among our growing staff.
