Strinteg was recently selected by the Ohio Department of Transportation to provide engineering services over a three-year inspection contract for the routine and/or in-depth inspections of the Main Avenue, Lorain-Carnegie, and Detroit-Superior Bridges in downtown Cleveland, OH. Strinteg’s engineers bring over a decade of nearly continuous experience inspecting, load rating, and designing repairs and retrofits for these complex signature structures. “This selection is representative of each of our state DOT wins to date, being selected for projects on which our engineers have played key roles in the past. We look forward to continuing our experience on these signature structures and continuing to build our relationship serving ODOT,” said Donald Cartwright, Vice President and Cleveland office manager at Strinteg.
Main Avenue Bridge The Main Avenue Bridge carries SR 2 over the Cuyahoga River in downtown Cleveland. It was built in 1939 and, including the approach ramps, is 8,000 feet long. The structure is comprised of several structural types including multiple rolled beams, riveted plate girders, reinforced concrete beams, fracture critical continuous steel frames, and eleven fracture critical cantilever steel deck truss spans.
Detroit-Superior Bridge Also known as the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge, the structure carries four lanes of US Route 6 approximately 2,880 feet over numerous local streets and the Cuyahoga River. The main river crossing consists of a steel through arch truss with numerous open spandrel concrete arch spans and cellular units.
Lorain-Carnegie Bridge Also known as the Hope Memorial Bridge, the structure comprises several structural types including multiple rolled beams, reinforced concrete cellular units, and fracture critical cantilever steel deck trusses. The bridge carries four lanes of State Route 10 over the Cuyahoga River in downtown Cleveland. It was built in 1932 and is more than 3,200 feet long.
